There are several myths associated with the Village Hall &

the Recreation Ground in Shrewton.

 

The Rec is well off - Not true, it operates for the benefit of the village and local area it is run by trustees and is a charity not a profit making organisation.

The Rec is supported by the Parish Council - Not true, the Recreation ground and Village hall is private land bequeathed the village 1947 for the wellbeing and benefit of the residents of the local area. As it stands the Parish council does not support the Village Hall or Recreation ground.

There are lots of people running the facility - Not true, at the moment there are a very small band of volunteers who give up their spare time to ensure that this facility is there for the local population to be able to use at a nominal cost and represents great value for money to the local community.

 

The Recreation Ground is only for the Sport teams - Not true, The Rec is available for hire for weddings, birthdays, parties and functions. While the Village cricket and football clubs are principle users of the facilities in the summer and winter respectively, there are lots of groups and clubs which use the hall and the recreation ground, a list can be found in the website pages.
